US Search Snags Pullen
Culver City-based US Search, which provides people search services on the web, said Thursday that it has named Jeffrey A. Pullen as the company's President and CEO. Pullen was most recently CEO of QFour Digital, and has served as COO of ValueClick and as president and CEO of Commission Junction. SnapNames, Register.com Renew Domain Name Deal
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net's SnapNames.com unit said today that the firm has renewed an exclusive agreement it has with domain registration service Register.com, where it will continue to make domain names surrendered by prior registrants on its auction platform. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. SnapNames, which was acquired by Oversee.net last year, sells expired and deleting domain names which have not been renewed by their prior owners. Disney, Google Link On Google Earth Tour
Burbank-based Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced this morning that it has linked with Google's 3D mapping software, Google Earth, to allow Google Earth users and Disney guests to tour the firm's Walt Disney World Resort in 3D. According to Disney, it will offer virtual, 3D tours of all of Disney World's four theme parks, hotels, and resorts, and will include links to Disney's online travel planning tours. YouMail Adds Visual Voicemail Feature
Irvine-based YouMail said today that it has rolled out a new feature which adds visual voicemail to the firm's services. According to YouMail, its new mobile service allows users to access YouMail's voice mail services from their smartphone screen, and allows them to listen to voicemail messages, forward message to others, or reply via SMS to voice mails directly from their smart phones. Santa Monica-based Dakim (www.dakim.com) recently landed a $10.6M round of venture financing for the firm's brain fitness products, geared at helping seniors stave off Alzheimer's and improve their brain function. Infosys Funds Center At USC
Indian-based IT outsourcing and consulting firm Infosys Technologies, and the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering, have set up a new research center at USC, the two companies said Wednesday. According to Infosys and USC, the two will set up a new Center for Research & Education in Advanced Software Technologies (CAST) at the USC campus, using funding from Infosys. Novelix Raises Funding Round
La Jolla-based Novelix Pharmaceuticals said this morning that it has raised a Series A-3 Preferred Stock financing for its biopharmaceuticals products. Amount and source of the funding was not disclosed. Novelix is developing proprietary small molecule drugs for cancer therapy, with a initial focus on lung, colon, and dermato-oncology. The firm said the funding will go towards expanding its team.
