Zag Spins Out TrueCar
Santa Monica-based Zag, the online car buying software firm headed by former CarsDirect CEO Scott Painter, has spun out a new company called TrueCar, the firm said late Wednesday. According to TrueCar, it will provide information about new car pricing, using the actual price people have paid for cars. Sensory Medical Finds $2.5M
San Clemente-based Sensory Medical, a medical device firm focused on Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), said Wednesday that it has raised $2.5M in a Series A funding. The round came from Salt Creek Medical Device Development. According to Sensory Medical, the funding will go towards launching an FDA clinical study on its devices for treatment of RLS. Jim Voelker of Salt Creek, and Chairman and CEO of InfoSpace, will join the firm's board of directors as part of the funding.

ReachLocal Expands Into Canada
Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal announced Wednesday that the firm has expanded into Canada, and opened up a new sales office in Toronto for its online marketing services. The venture-backed firm, which helps small and medium sized businesses place Internet advertising, said that its first Canadian location will cater to local businesses in the Greater Toronto area. SheKnows Lands Content Deal With Hearst
Los Angeles-based SheKnows.com, the online women's site owned by AtomicOnline, announced Wednesday that the firm has signed a content syndication partnership with Hearst Magazines Digital Media. According to SheKnows, it will feature select articles each month from Cosmopolitan.com, MarieClaire.com, HouseBeautiful.com, Redbookmag.com, and GoodHousekeeping.com. ProQuo Launches Credit Card Site
San Diego-based ProQuo, a venture-backed startup focused on helping consumers manage junk mail, said Wednesday that it has launched a new web site focused on helping consumers manage credit card offers. According to the firm, its new service will allow consumers to stop unwanted 'pre-approved' credit card offers, and will help consumers pinpoint cards that will save them the most money. SpiritClips Launches Film Site
Los Angeles-based SpiritClips said today that it has launched a new web site, focused on short films that "impart compassion, hope, courage and strength." The site, which was created by producer Rob Fried (producer of "Rudy" and "So I Married an Axe Murderer") allows users to watch and share films with other users. Nexsan In OEM Win With ONStor
Thousand Oaks-based Nexsan has been selected by clustered NAS storage provider ONStor, in an OEM storage deal, the firms announced today. ONStor and Nexsan said that ONStor will incorporate Nexsan's SATABeast and SATABoy storage systems into ONStor's line of NAS products. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.
