Casdex Gets Baja Fresh Contract
Thousand Oaks-based Casdex, a small provider of digital archiving services, has scored a contract with Baja Fresh. Casdex, which launched its products in February, said it has signed a five-year contract with Baja Fresh to digitize all human resources records and financial records for Baja Fresh's more than 300 locations. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.

Business.com Releases Open Source Query Tool
Santa Monica-based business search engine and directory firm Business.com said Friday that it has launched a new, open source software application focused on data warehousing. The unusual move--Business.com is best known for its aggregated business search listings and information, rather than software--makes technology internally developed for the firm available to any developer. United Online Makes Executive Moves
Woodland Hills-based United Online said Friday that it has promoted Robert J. Taragan to President of the firm's Communications segment, and named Matthew J. Wisk as President of the firm's online loyalty business, MyPoints.com. Taragan has been at United Online since 2000, and was EVP Operations. Eventful Signs Deal With Billboard
San Diego-based Eventful, a provider of an online site for finding local events, and music publication Billboard said Thursday that the two have launched two new charts based on Eventful data. Eventful--which has focused in on musicians and artists--will supply Billboard with two charts, the "Eventful Hottest Demand" and the "Eventful Weekly Most in Demand" -- based on the firm's Demand service. Move Gets Win In Patent Case
Los Angeles-based Move, Inc., which operates the Move.com, REALTOR.com, and other related web sites, announced this morning that it has scored a win in a patent case. The firm said that a district court judge in the U. S. District Court for the Northern California District, has granted a summary judgetment in favor of the firm. Aspyra Names CEO
Calabasas-based Aspyra, a provider of clinical information systems for the healthcare industry, has appointed Rodney Schutt as the firm's CEO. Schutt joins Aspyra from Luminetx, where he was Chief Operating Officer. Schutt has also served at Smith and Newphen Orthopaedics and GE Healthcare. Power-One Shifts Board
Camarillo-based Power-One, a manufacturer of power supplies and related products, said earlier this week that it has appointed Jon Gacek to its board of directors. Gacek replaces Gayla J. Delly, who resigned from the board. According to Power-One, Delly resigned to devote more time to her business activities; she is President of Benchmark Electronics. Gacek is EVP and CFO of data storage firm Quantum Corporation. He also served as CFo of ADIC, and was an audit partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Networks In Motion Names VP
Irvine-based location-based services (LBS) firm Networks in Motion said this week that it has hired on a new Vice President of Engineering at the firm. Networks In Motion said that M. Fathi Hakam has joined the firm from Kyocera Wireless, in San Diego. NIM said tha Hakam was senior director of product engineering at Kyocera, managing its global software engineering team. D-Link Gets Design Win
Fountain Valley-based D-Link has scored a design with a manufacturer of in-flight entertainment players, the firm announced earlier this week. D-Link said that its wireless 802.11 a/b/g adapters are now being used as part of a in-flight entertainment product from manufacturer digEcor, which develops the systems for airline customers. Financial impact of the design win was not disclosed.
