ARTISTdirect Acquires MediaSentry
Los Angeles-based ARTISTdirect, which operates an online consumer music portal, along with operating MediaDefender, a business which helps prevent media piracy of content from motion picture studios, record labels, and others, said Thursday that it has acquired MediaSentry, a unit of SafeNet. According to ARTISTdirect, it paid $936K for the business, made up of $136,000 in cash plus $800,000 in a 1-year note. Wavestream Raises $7M
San Dimas-based Wavestream, a developer of solid state, RF (radio frequency) amplifiers, has raised $7.0M of an $8.0M funding round, according to a regulatory filing. Names of new investors in the firm were not disclosed, however, the firm has previously raised funding from companies such as Anthem Ventures, Digital Power Capital, Oak Investment Partners, Titan Corp., Triquint Semiconductor, and ITU Ventures. Teridian Hires VP, GM
Irvine-based Teridian Semiconductor Corp. reported Thursday that it has hired Jay Cormier as vice president and general manager of its Networking & Secure Access business unit. The integrated circuit manufacturer said Cormier will oversee new product development, application support, marketing communications and business unit profitability.
