Sotera Wireless Lands $10.7M
San Diego-based Sotera Wireless, a developer of wireless vital signs management product, has raised $10.7M as part of an ongoing, $15.0M funding round, accoridng to a regulatory filing today. Source of the new funding was not disclosed. The firm--which was previously known as Triage Wireless--has previously raised funding from Qualcomm Ventures, Sanderling Venturse, 3i Group, and Intel Capital. The funding brings the firm's total funding to over $36M.

mEgo Gets $833K
Los Angeles-based mEgo, the firm headed by Julia Johnston and Ariel McNichol, and develops software for creating personalized "avatars," has raised $833,025 in a Series A funding round targeted at $1.5M. The funding came to light through a recent regulatory filing by the firm. Schaaf Consulting Buys PartnerCentric
Sherman Oaks-based Schaaf Consulting, a firm that manages affiliate programs for online retailers, has acquired PartnerCentric, an internet marketing firm, the two said last week. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. The firm said it will become Schaaf-PartnerCentric, and will be headquartered in Los Angeles. MySpace Teams With Microsoft On Kin
Los Angeles-based social networking web site MySpace has linked with Microsoft on the launch of Microsoft's new social networking-focused cell phones, the Kin 1 and the Kin 2. MySpace is one of social networking sites with built-in support on Microsoft's new phones. Microsoft announced the launch of the two phones this morning, saying that the phones will be available exclusively through Verizon. Yahoo Links With Producer Of The Office For Web Series
Online web portal Yahoo has inked a deal with Reveille, producer of The Office, Ugly Betty, The Biggest Loser, and other shows, for a new online series, the firms said today. According to Yahoo, the new original web series, Who Knew? will feature easy-to-digest commentaries on current events, highlighting unknown or out-of-the-ordinary facts and information. Nexsan Delays IPO Plans
Thousand Oaks-based Nexsan, a developer of data storage systems, has delayed its IPO, according to its underwriter, Thomas Weisel Partners. According to Thomas Weisel Partners Friday, the IPO is being delayed by market conditions. The firm's IPO was being underwritten by Thomas Weisel Partners, Lazard Capital Markets, Needham & Company, and Morgan Keegan & Company. Somaxon Names CFO
San Diego-based Somaxon Pharmaceuticals said this morning that it has named Tran B. Nguyen as VP and CFO at the firm. The specialty pharmaceuticals firm said that Nguyen was most recently CFO at Metabasis Therapeutics, and also was a VP in investment banking at Citi Global Markets and Lehman Brothers. Respawn Entertainment Launches New Game Studio
Jason West and Vince Zampella, the developer of video game Call of Duty and co-founder ofs Infinity Ward, have set up shop as Respawn Entertainment, and inked a deal with Electronic Arts to distribute its games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. TweetUp Launches Out Of Idealab, Gets Funding
Pasadena-based Idealab has launched a new company, TweetUp, which focused on showcasing Twitter users and helping them to grow an online following. According to TweetUp, Inc., its new Twitter marketplace was founded by Idealab's Bill Gross, and has scored funding from Index Ventures, betaworks, Revolution LLC, First Round Capital, Jason Calacanis, and Jeff Jarvis. EdgeCast Networks Raises $10M
Santa Monica-based EdgeCast Networks, a content delivery network (CDN) provider, is announcing today that it has raised $10M in a Series C funding round. EdgeCast said the round was led by Menlo Ventures, and also includes an investment from Steamboat Ventures, a prior investor in the company. AtomicOnline Signs Destructoid
Los Angeles-based GameRevolution, the online gaming unit of AtomicOnline/Evolve Media, said today that it has signed on online gaming site Destructoid.com, an online gaming blog site. According to GameRevolution, it will exclusively represent the online ad inventory of Destructtoid.com, which has over 1 million unique visitors per month. Trapster Claims 5M Users
San Diego-based Trapster, which operates a service for sharing speed trap locations, said today it has reached 5 million users. The firm, which develops mobile applications which alert users to red light cameras, speed traps, and police, said the growth comes from expansion onto a number of mobile platforms, including Android, Windows Mobile, Palm WebOS, Maemo, and the iPad. The firm also has apps for the iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia, Windows Mobile, Garmin, and TomTom.

VMIX Taps Akamai For HD Video
San Diego-based VMIX, a developer of an online video management platform, said today that it has extended a deal with content delivery network provider Akamai, to use Akamai's HD video services. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the effort, VMIX said it will be showing HTML5 video support for iPad and other non-Flash devices at NAB this week.
