Calacanis Boosts Riptano
Jason Calacanis, the CEO of Mahalo.com and well known angel investor, said today that he has invested in Riptano, the developer of the open source, Apache Cassandra online transaction database software. Calacanis joined Lightspeed Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, Rackspace Hosting, and others as an investor in the firm. Calacanis, in his blog, said that he's the only angel that is invested in the deal, and that he brokered the introduction to Sequoia Capital. Riptano is based in Austin, Texas. (More info...)

Broadcom Buys Percello
Irvine-based Broadcom has acquired Percello Ltd., a developer of systems a developer of systems-on-a-chip for femtocells, the firm said Tuesday afternoon. Broadcom said it would pay $86M net of cash to acquire Percello, in a combination of cash plus employee stock options. The firm also said it will hold up to $12.0M in earnout for former holders of Percello's capital stock. ReachLocal Grows Revenues By 47 Percent
Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal, the provider of local online marketing services for small and medium sized businesses, reported its results Tuesday, saying that it had $77.1M in revenues for Q3 of 2010, up 47 percent from Q3 of last year, when it had $52.6M in revenues. Oversee Resolves SnapNames Lawsuits
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, the operator of Internet marketing and domain monetization services, said today with subsidiary SnapNames that they have resolved two lawsuits filed as a result of a former employee's improper bidding activity. According to Oversee and SnapNames, they have reached a preliminary settlement in the class action lawsuit Resmer vs. SnapNames.com and Oversee.net. CapLinked Ties With MicroVentures
Los Angeles-based CapLinked, the developer of software-as-a-service for entrepreneurs and investors to manage investors communications, which is headed by PayPal vet Eric M. Jackson, said today that it has linked with MicroVentures, a micro-lending and peer-to-peer lending service. TrueCar Announces Used Vehicle Pricing Index
Santa Monica-based TrueCar, the car pricing startup headed by Scott Painter, has announced a new product today, focused on used vehicle pricing. According to TrueCar, its new ClearBook service will provide a used vehicle pricing index, based on pure computational analytics, using the firm's ability to tap into aggregated used car listings. Goldstar Launches Nationwide Expansion
Los Angeles-based Goldstar, the online marketer of ticket offers and deals, announced today that it is in a major, nationwide expansion. aTyr Pharma Nabs $23M
San Diego-based aTyr Pharma, a developer of biotherapeutics aimed at the blood, immune, and metabolism disorder areas, announced today that it has raised $23M in a Series C equity financing round. The round was led by Domain Associates, and also included prior investors Alta Partners, Cardinal Partners, and Polar Ventures. Kelley Blue Book Acquired By AutoTrader.com
Irvine-based Kelley Blue Book, the provider of new and used car pricing information, has been acquired by AutoTrader.com, which is based in Atlanta. Financial details of the deal were not announced. As part of the deal, AutoTrader.com said it is also acquiring CDMdata and CDM Dealer Services, two of Kelley Blue Book's sister companies. PURE Bioscience Gets $2.376M In PIPE
San Diego-based PURE Bioscience, a publicly held developer of antimicrobial compounds, said today that it has raised $2.376M in a private placement. Name of the investors were not disclosed. The firm said it sold 1,080,000 new shares of its stock at $2.20 per share. The firm said the new funding will go towards working capital.
