JMI Equity Re-Ups On AppNeta
San Diego-based JMI Equity, the private equity firm investing in software and business services, has re-upped its investment in Wellesley, Mass.-based AppNeta. AppNeta said Wednesday that it has raised $6.2M in additional capital, from Bain Capital Ventures, Egan-Managed Capital, JMI Equity, and Business Development Bank of Canada. Venture Investors Gain Confidence
A new study released last night finds that Silicon Valley venture capitalists have gained significant confidence from last quarter. The Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index, compiled by Professor Mark Cannice at UC San Francisco, found that venture investors had an "increasing upward momentum" in terms of their outlook for the next 6-18 months. Cornerstone OnDemand Signs Broadcast Technology Firm
Santa Monica-based Cornerstone onDemand, the provider of talent management software, reported today that it has signed Grass Valley, a provider of broadcast technology and professionals services, as a customer. Size of the win was not disclosed. Cornerstone said that Grass Valley is using its Extended Enterprise platform, to manage online training for its customers and resellers. LaunchSpark Starts YCombinator-style Incubation Program
A local entrepreneur, Mike Khristo, is launching a new, Y-Combinator style incubation and acceleration effort, LaunchSpark, after becoming frustrated by the lack of a similar incubation effort in SoCal. Khristo, who said he is modeling the program after similar effort YCReject.com in the Bay Area, said he is hoping to run YC-style gatherings, learning, mentoring, and demo days but without the funding. Inherited Health Acquired By Informed Medical Decisions
Los Angeles-based Inherited Health, the online site for gathering and storing family health information headed by Lee Essner, has been acquired by Informed Medical Decisions. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced by the companies. Inherited Health, which was formerly known as AccessDNA, provides an online site focused on family health history and hereditary disease risk. Coradiant Acquired By BMC
Poway-based Coradiant, which develops data center monitoring software, has been acquired by BMC Software. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. BMC said the move would "substantially enhance" its ability to offer businesses a 360 degree view of service performance. Coradiant 's software will help to bolster BMC's software products, via a new offering, BMC End User Experience Management. Acelot Launches Chemical Search Tools
Santa Barbara-based Acelot, a startup developing technology originally developed at UC Santa Barbara, said Wednesday that it has released a new set of chemical search and discovery software targeted at the pharmaceutical industry. The company, which is headed by Professor Ambuj K. Singh of UCSB, said its technology is aimed at chemists and pharmacologists looking to mine information from their molecule databases.

Active.com Ties With espnW
San Diego-based Active.com, the flagship site of Active Network, said Wednesday that it has linked with espnW, ESPN's online site aimed at female athletes. Active.com said that espnW has joined its online affiliate program, and partnered to promote Active.com's Trainer product via espnW. Active.coms Trainer software lets users plan, log, and share training plans and fitness activities. Financial details of the deal between the firms was not disclosed.

Network Hardware Resale Expands Offices
Santa Barbara-based Network Hardware Resale, which sells used and new networking equipment, said Wednesday that it has doubled the size of its corporate headquarters in Santa Barbara. The firm said it has moved into a new, 99,000 square foot office and warehouse in Santa Barbara. The company said the office lease is the largest one of the year for the area, and the largest industrial lease since 2005.
