TrueCar Adds Two More AAA Clubs
Santa Monica-based TrueCar announced Monday that it has added two more, AAA clubs to its list of customers using its services. TrueCar said that it will power the online car buying programs for AAA Oklahoma/South Dakota and AAA Hoosier, the 21st and 22nd AAA organizations using TrueCar's services. Emulex Announces New Fibre Channel Adapters
Costa Mesa-based Emulex, the developer of storage networking hardware, said today that it has shipped its next generation of Fibre Channel Adapters. According to the hardware maker, its has shipped new LightPulse 16Gb Fibre Channel (16GFC) host adapters, which says can deliver over on emillion I/Os per second on a single port. Eucalyptus Opens New European HQ
Santa Barbara-based Eucalyptus Systems, the developer of cloud deployment software, has expanded in Europe, opening up a new office in London. According to Eucalyptus Systems, the new office will be headed by Paul Holt, who will serve as Vice President of EMEA Sales. Eucalpytus says the new corporate office comes on top of its India and China offices, which it opened earlier this year. Holt was previously at Canonical, and also served at Springsource and Red Hat. LA To Launch Cleantech Incubator
The City of Los Angeles said this morning that it will be officially launching its Cleantech Incubator tomorrow, as it attempts to create a cluster of clean technology companies downtown. According to Mayor Villaraigosa, the effort is to help develop new businesses and create jobs in Los Angeles. Netflix Drops Qwikster Plans
Online video streaming service Netflix, in a dramatic reversal, said this morning that it will not be splitting the company into two, and will continue to offer both DVDs by mail and streaming movies. In a statement, the firm said it "moved too fast" in announcing the move a few weeks ago, where it said it would split its DVD by mail service into a new company called Qwikster, and continue on the path of streaming video with Netflix. AnyMeeting Updates Web Conferencing Service
Huntington Beach-based AnyMeeting, the provider of free web conferencing and webinar services, has updated its site, in a major update for the service. Broadcom Targets Automotive Networks With Chip
Irvine-based Broadcom is targeting the automotive electronics market today with the release of a new product specifically aimed at automotive networks. The chip marke said today that it has launched an Ethernet PHY, which enables low-cost cabling for 100 Mbps Ethernet networks in cars. Broadcom said the chips are sampling now, with production volumes in the first half of 2012. Automotive makers have been moving towards using Ethernet networks for in-vehicle networking. AWR Links With Antenna Software
El Segundo-based AWR Corporation, which develops electronic design automation (EDA) software, said today that it has linked with Antenna Magus, an antenna design software tool. According to the two, AWR and Magus (Pty) Ltd. are in a joint marketing relationship, and will connect their two software products via a new product called AWR Connected for Antenna Magus. VIZIO Pre-loads Netflix On Tablet
Irvine-based VIZIO, the developer of HDTV and other electronic products, announced this morning that its VIZIO 8" Tablet with Wi-Fi is now pre-loaded with Netflix. According to VIZIO, the new app will come pre-loaded with the newest firmware update for its tablet PC product. Terms of the deal between the company were not announced. The addition of Netflix comes about a month after VIZIO inked a deal to carry Hulu Plus on the tablet device.
