If you want to gain traction in an increasingly crowded, crowdfunding market, how do you best attract users to your domain? In the case of GoFundMe, a San Diego-based crowdfunding startup, you shell out $175,000 for the domain Crowdfunding.com. GoFundMe said it has just purchased the Crowdfunding.com domain plus a number of related domain names, from an Australian Internet entrepreneur, Mat Walker. Paige Craig Ventures Into Scripted
Los Angeles-based angel investor Paige Craig is one of the investors in Scripted.com, the online marketplace for freelance writers headed by Sunil Rajaraman. Science Raising New $30M Fund For LA Startups
Science, Inc., the startup incubator headed by former MySpace CEO Mike Jones, is reportedly raising another $30M in funding to put towards its startups. According to a report this morning, the fund will also invest in non-Science incubated startups. Glossi Debuts New Features For Digital Magazine Publishers
Glossi, which develops tools to help publishers create digital magazines for the web, said today that it has launched a brand new set of features aimed at rich media content publishers. FreedomPop Offers Up Free Voice, Text, Data Service
Los Angeles-based FreedomPop announced this morning that it has launched a free, mobile service which not only includes broadband data, but also includes free voice and texting. According to FreedomPop, its new phone service will provide unlimited texting, 200 free anytime voice minutes, along with 500 MBs of 4G data to users on Android phones. Mad Catz Names New CFO
San Diego-based computer and gaming accessories maker Mad Catz Interactive said Tuesday that it has named a new CFO. The company said Karen K. McGinnis has been named to the position, replacing Allyson Evans, who is resigning from the firm. McGinnis was previously VP, Corporate Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer at Cymer; she also served at Insight Enterprises.

SolarReserve Wins Project Approval In Arizona
Santa Monica-based SolarReserve, the utility scale solar power projects developer, has received project approval on a 100 MW project in Arizona. SolarReserve said its Quartzsite Solar Energy Project, which is based in La Paz County, Arizona, has received approval from the U.S. Department of Interior. The project is located on Bureau of Land (BLM) managed land, and uses concentrated solar power.
