Qualstar Gets Nasdaq Warning
Simi Valley-based data storage products developer Qualstar reported this week that it has received a warning from the Nasdaq, saying that it is non-compliant for failing to maintain a minimum of $10,000,000 in stockholders' equity. Qualstar said it either must submit a plan to regain compliance within 45 days, or file a transfer application to list on the Nasdaq Capital Market. CPO Commerce Acquired By United Stationers
Pasadena-based CPO Commerce, an e-commerce company focused on tools, equipment, outdoor and yard equipment, and other related products, has been acquired by United Stationers. According to United Stationers, it will pay $30M in cash, with an additional $10M in earnout over three years based on performance. United Stationers said the move would help bolster its e-commerce expertise. CPO Commerce had $78M in fiscal 2013 year sales, according to United Stationers. CPO was founded by Rob Tolleson.

reqallable's Software Lets Google Glass Users Read, Handle Email Automatically
reQall, the developer of smart applications for Google Glass--founded by former Apple executive Rao Machiraju--has released reqallable, its application for Google Glass which automatically handles email and text messages for users. The startup has a major presence in Ventura, and Machiraju is a Ventura County resident. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer Buys LA Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers have been sold to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, in a deal which is worth $2 billion. Ballmer said in a statement that he will not be moving the Clippers from Los Angeles. Ballmer has been looking to buy an NBA team for awhile, and even had made an offer for the Sacramento Kings. The move came after the NBA banned Clippers owner Donald Sterling from the league for life for racist comments captured and released on tape. Snapchat's Spiegel Apologizes For Emails
About now, Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Venice, California-based Snapchat, is probably wishing he'd started the company earlier--and used its disappearing messages, instead of email. Spiegel has apologized publicly to his users and the public at large for the sentiments expressed in his expletive-laced emails--dredged out of the mud of his frat boy days at Stanford--expressing demeaning views of women, drug use, drunken reveries, and more. SpaceX Unveils Dragon V2 Manned Spaceship
Hawthorne-based SpaceX unveiled the Dragon V2 in a dramatic anouncement last night at its headquarters here, showing off what it says is a spacecraft capable of carrying up to seven astronauts into space and back. The Dragon V2 is reusable, and is able to land using controlled descent like a helicopter. Plus, SpaceX said the new Dragon V2 will automatically dock with the International Space Station, without requiring astronaut intervention. Musk showed off the new spacecraft in a live webcast.
