Siimpel Acquired By Tessera

Arcadia-based Siimpel, a developer of micro-electro mechanical systems (MEMS) based cameras, has been acquired by Tessera Technologies, Tessera announced Tuesday afternoon. The deal was worth $15M in cash. Siimpel was founded in 2000, and had 42 employees, as well as a stable of 65 patents and patent applications. The firm was venture backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DoCoMo Capital, LG Innotek, Zone Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Qualcomm Ventures, Motorola, Micron, Portage Ventures, and SunAmerica; the firm had raised over $65M in funding over its lifetime.
