    SMC Ships 10G Switch

Irvine-based SMC Networks this week shipped a new, high density 10 gigabit switch. The switch is the first 10G switch in the company's lineup, and provides up to 8 ports of 10G connectivity. The new switch is targeted at workgroups and power users, and supports up to 160Gbps of throughput. SMC said that the new switch supports any available XFP transceiver and will retail for a MSRP of $7999.99 not including transceivers. SMC serves the SMB and enterprise markets with low cost networking hardware.
