    Demand Media Buys Food Website


    Los Angeles-based Demand Media, the social media firm headed by former MySpace chairman Richard Rosenblatt, has acquired another vertical web site, The Daily Plate. The Daily Plate provides diet information, calorie counting, forums, and other content around dieting and eating. The site also includes a database of food items and calorie and nutritional information from fast food, consumer products, and other food items. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The Daily Plate joins more than 65 other web sites owned by Demand Media in a number of content verticals.
