Costa Mesa-based Emulex is reporting that its Sun Microsystems-branded HBAs have been qualified by Sun for use in the popular VMware ESX Server virtualization environment. Emulex said that its 2 Gb/s and 4 Gb/s Lightpulse Host Bus Adapters, used for connecting Fibre Channel storage to computer systems, work with the ESX Server environment. VMware maintains its own hardware compatibility list for SAN components, and currently includes both OEM and retail version of Emulex and Qlogic HBAs on its compatibility matrix.
