GPS Firm GloNav Launches, Acquires RF Domus, Gets $16.2M
Newport Beach-based GloNav, a new company focused on the development of GPS semiconductors, said today that it has launched the company and received $16.2M in capital from Atlantic Bridge Ventures. The firm is a spinout from Ceva, Inc., and has also acquired RFDomus, an Irvine-based developer of RF and analog mixed signal semiconductors for the wireless communications market. Palomar Adds Partners, Invests in Zannel
Santa Monica-based Palomar Ventures has added two partners to the venture capital firm. Palomar said yesterday that it promoted Brian Garrett to partner, and added Kevin Jacques as a new partner. As part of the announcement, Palomar also mentioned that the firm invested in San Francisco-based Zannel, a stealth mode startup, a "multimodal social entertainment network". Boingo Enters Malaysia
Santa Monica-based Wi-Fi provider Boingo Wireless has entered the Malaysian market, the firm said Tuesday. Boingo said that it has signed a roaming agreement with Maxis, a wireless telecommunications company that serves Malaysia. Maxis maintains 118 hot spots in Malaysia serving business customers, including the Kuala Lumpur airport. Boingo said that the addition of Malaysia brings it total number of hot spots to 45,581 worldwide.

Avamar Ties Into Sun, Hitachi
Irvine-based Avamar, a provider of backup software for the enterprise market, has signed two technology partner agreements with Sun Microsystems and Hitachi Data Systems. Avamar said Tuesday that Sun has added the company as a Principal Partner in its Partner Advantage Program for ISVs. The Sun program links Avamar into better support and marketing resources from Sun.
