Virginia Tech Taps 3n For Emergency Notification System
Virginia Tech, the site of the April school shooting massacre which killed 32 students and staff, has deployed a new emergency notification from Glendale, California-based National Notification Network (3n). Virginia Tech said today that the new system, known as "VT Alerts" will expand the university's ability to send critical news and information to the university community during campus emergencies. Teledyne Acquires Tindall Technologies
Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies, a diversified provider of electronic components, instruments, aerospece components, and other products, said today that its subsidiary, Teledyne Cougar, Inc., has acquired Tindall Technologies. Tindall Technologies is a designer and supplier of microwave systems for the defense industry. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tindall Technologies is based in Pleasanton, California, and had revenues of $2.7M for the year ending December 2006.

Domain Adds Evoke Pharma To Portfolio
San Diego-based venture capital firm has added San Diego-based Evoke Pharma to its list of portfolio firms. No details of the funding have been released, however according to Domain's web site Evoke is focused on acquisition and development of proprietary products for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.

Shelter Capital Funds MyTime Media
Los Angeles-based Shelter Capital has quietly funded a Los Angeles-based community site, MyTime Media, socalTECH has learned. According to Shelter Capital, MyTime Media is an online community combining targeted editorial materials with social networking tools focused on the needs and desires of the baby-boomer generation. No details of the funding have been released.

Quest Software Buys ScriptLogic
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software said this morning that it has acquired Florida-based ScriptLogic, in a deal worth $90M. ScriptLogic is a provider of systems management software for Windows networks. The deal is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2007, and is subject to regulatory approval and Hart-Scott-Rodino. Gumiyo Launches Mobile Classifieds Service
Woodland Hills-based startup Gumiyo has launched a new mobile classified ad service, saying today that the firm has introduced a new service that allows users to view classified lisings in the Google Base service. Google Base a Google project that allows users to submit their own classified ads and other information. Gumiyo said that its service can match and deliver listings in Google Base on their mobile phone.

NovaStor Revs Data Backup Software
Simi Valley-based NovaStor, a developer of data protection software, said last night that it has upgraded its NovaNET backup software. The firm's software, which is targeted at small and medium sized networks, adds support for Microsoft Exchange 2007, Windows Vista, and Microsoft SharePoint. NovaStor is a developer of data backup software and online backup services.

Overland Storage Adds LTO4 Support
San Diego-based Overland Storage, a provider of tape backup systems, said this week that it has added support for the new HP LTO4 tape drives. Overland will use the HP LTO4 drives in its NEO Series and ARCvault tape automation systems. Tapping the latest generation of LTO4 tape drives will up Overland's systems from 9.6 terabytes to 1.6 petabytes of storage, and increase its ability to back up data to 20 terabytes per hour. The new tape libraries based on LTO4 technology will ship this month.
