Crownpeak Raises $6M
Los Angeles-based Crownpeak, a provider of hosted, web content management software, has raised a new round of venture capital, socalTECH has learned. Crownpeak CEO Jim Howard confirmed the round, saying that the company raised $6M. The round was led by SunAmerica Ventures, and also included prior investors Sigma Partners and Altos Ventures. Veoh Restricts International Access, Seeks Funding
La Jolla-based Veoh, a user generated video sharing web site, has cut back some international access to the web site as the firm looks to prioritize its audience and better serve its advertisers. A spokesperson for the firm, Gaude Paez, told socalTECH Monday that the firm has decided to exit certain international markets, to concentrate on the 33 markets that it has its most viewers. Opposing Views Takes $1.25M
Los Angeles-based Opposing Views said today that it has closed a Series A financing round, and raised $1.25M. According to the firm, the funding came from Frontera Group, Gil Elbaz, the co-founder of Applied Semantics; Russell Fine, the CEO of Opposing Views; and other unnamed technology investors. Opposing Views is focused on developing a web site that allows people to get expert answers on politics, health, personal finance, parenting, and other topics. WD Ships 7200 RPM SATA Drive
Lake Forest-based Western Digital said today that it has begun shipping a new line of 7200 RPM, 2-5 inch SATA hard drives. The disk drive maker said the new hardware is designed for use in notebook computers and portable storage devices, and supports upt o 320GB in capacity. Among features of the storage products are features designed to protect from disk drive damage from physical shocks and drops, as well as quiet operation technology. Strix Deploys In South Korea
Calabasas-based Strix Systems announced today that it has been selected by the Korean Highway Corp., the state-run operator of South Korea's highway infrastructure, for a test bed program to provide Wi-Fi to a highway project between Seoul and Pusan. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ixia Adds Telenor As Customer
Calabasas-based Ixia, a developer of IP test systems, said today that it has scored a customer win with Telenor, a major telecommunications provider in Norway. Ixia explained that Telenor will deploy its IxRave IP service verification platform, which is used to measure performance of Layer 3 VPN networks and services. The products will be used to guarantee network reliability to its customers. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Vitesse Gets Chip Win With Napera Networks
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor has scored a design win for its Ethernet switching chips, the firm said Monday. According to Vitesse, the firm's Ethernet Switch and Gigabit Copper PHY chips have been selected by Napera Networks for its network access control (NAC) products. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Vitesse's ICs are used for managing Ethernet networks and at the physical layer for connecting copper networks.
