Midway Studios Shuts Moorpark Location
Chicago-based Midway Games Inc, a publisher and developer of interactive games, said Monday evening that it will combine the firm's Los Angeles studio, which is based in Moorpark, with its San Diego operations. The firm said that it will combine Midway Studios-Los Angeles with Midway Home Entertainment, which is based in San Diego. Breach Takes $6M
Carlsbad-based security software provider Breach Security has raised $6M in a funding round, from Enterprise Partners, RBA No. 5, and Evergreen Venture Partners, the firm told socalTECH today. The funding round brings the total raised by the firm to $32.5M. Funding will go towards growth of the business, and to "capitalize on the market opportunity" for web application security solutions, the firm said. Certona Scores $7M
San Diego-based Certona said today that it has raised $7M in a Series A financing, led by ABS Ventures. Prior investor Express Ventures also participated. Certona is a provider of optimization and personalization products for retailers. According to the firm, the funding will go to expand sales, marketing, customer support, and product development. FunnyorDie Kills Spinoff Site BlueCollarOrDie
FunnyorDie, the Palo Alto- and Los Angeles startup headed by comedian Will Ferrell, is shutting down one of the firm's "or Die" web sites, BlueCollarOrDie, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting this morning. Or Die Networks, the parent company of FunnyOrDie, operates ShredorDie, PwnOrDie, EatDrinkorDie, and until now BlueCollarorDie, all built on the same video publishing platform as FunnyorDie. Zubican Opens Public Beta
Los Angeles-based Zubican said today that it has launched a public beta of the firm's web site, which allows businesses to find, evaluate, and connect with other businesses. The firm said it is backed by Athenaeum Capital, Pasadena Angels, Tech Coast Angels, and angels from JAMDAT Mobile, mp3.com, NTI Group, Overture Services Rent.com, Tickets.com and Vivendi Universal Net USA. Transcepta Gets Win At Monster
Aliso Viejo-based Transcepta said Monday that the firm's electronic invoicing products have been selected by online jobs listing firm Monster Worldwide, the firm said Monday. Transcepta said its electronic invoicing solution will be used as part of automating its accounts payable process as part of an install with Basware Invoice Automation. BiggerBoat Scores More Funding
Beverly Hills-based BiggerBoat has raised around $2M in a new funding round, socalTECH.com has learned, as the firm has begun focusing on a vertical ad network around Internet television and major networks. According to CEO Adam Lilling, the funding came from Tim Draper, through Draper Associates, as well as other prior investors. Lilling said the new focus of the firm will be on targeting for Internet television, and comes ahead of raising a sizeable B round.

Imation To Close Camarillo Plant, Lay Off 140
Imation, a manufacturer of magnetic tape and storage media, said this morning that it will close its Camarillo plant by the end of the year. According to Imation, the move is part of a effort to "optimize" its magnetic tape manufacturing efforts. Imation said that it will consolidate all of its manufacturing at a Oklahoma plant, and will result in the loss of 140 positions.
