Imation Buys Memorex
Imation has acquired Cerritos-based Memorex, a manufacturer of CD and DVD media, optical and flash drives, and media accessories. Imation said that it will acquire Memorex for $330M in cash, plus contingent payments of up to $45M. Imation is a competing manufacturer of media for the computer industry. Imation said that it believes the acquisition will be accretive, and add $32 to $36M to its annual operating income.

Epicor Enhances Store Management Software
Irvine-based Epicor has enhanced its store management software. Epicor said this week that it has upgraded its CRS Retail Suite to version 3.0. The company said that the new software uses Microsoft's .NET technology and Service-Oriented Architecture to provide POS interfaces, management of orders, and CRM support. Epicor provides retail management software, hardware, and services.

Del Mar Promotes Execs
San Diego-based Del Mar Database, a provider of software for the mortgage lending industry, said this week that it has promoted two of its executives to new positions. Both executives were previously at the firm. Rob Katz has been appointed as executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, and Rob Pommier has been appointed VP of National Sales. Katz has previously served as CIO of Monument Mortgage. Pommier has served as VP of Mortgage Banking for South Pacific Financial Corp.

Peregrine Semiconductor Unveils 3G Handset Silicon
San Diego-based Peregrine Semiconductor this week rolled out a new, 3G handset switch for supporting dual-mode WCDMA handsets. The firm said that its new PE42671 SP7T Cellular Handset Switch provides both dual-band WCDMA and GSM capability. Peregrine is a supplier of RF semiconductors used for the cellular industry and communications industry.

Conversive Rolls HTML Interface
Malibu-based Conversive has released a new, HTML-based user interface for its web-based customer service products. The firm said Wednesday that its new interface moves away from its prior, Macromedia Flash-based customer service tool due to feedback from its customer base. Conversive said that there was a significant portion of its enterprise market that was concerned about the cost and potential risks of supporting Flash. En Pointe Buys Software Reseller
Los Angeles-based En Pointe Technologies, a provider of information technology products, said yesterday that it has acquired Software Medium, a software reseller. En Pointe said that Software Medium has annual revenues of approximately $10M. The acquisition also included Software Medium's services subsidiary, Veridyn LLC. En Pointe said that the acquisition would provide it with a means to consult, educate, train, and deliver information security services.

Qualcomm Completes Flarion Buy
San Diego-based Qualcomm has completed its purchase of Flarion Technologies, the company said Thursday. Qualcomm said that it paid approximately $600M in stock and cash, including assumption of vested options and warrants. Flarion Technologies is a developer of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex Access (OFDMA) technology for broadband Internet protocol services. The deal also includes up to $205M in additional cash and Qualcomm stock if certain milestones are met.

Jabil Buys Celetronix
Jabil Circuit, a leading electronics contract manufacturer, said Wednesday that it has acquired Celetronix, a Indian-based contract manufacturing firm headquartered in Simi Valley. Jabil said that it would pay $155 million plus the assumption of approximately $30 million of net debt for the firm. Jabil had a purchase option to acquire all outstanding stock of Celetronix as part of a $25M loan in 2005. LAVA Honors Bob Hoff of Crosspoint, Best Funding Deals
The Los Angeles Venture Association held its annual LAVA Awards Dinner last night, honoring Bob Hoff of Crosspoint Venture Partners with a Lifetime Achievement award.
