Warner Releases Videos In Hybrid DVD Format
Burbank-based Warner Home Video plans to shipping titles using a new hybrid HD DVD and DVD format, the firm said Tuesday. Warner said that it will release such titles as Rumor Has It, GoodFellas, Swordfish, and Training Day in the format in May. The hybrid format puts the new, HD-DVD format on one side of a disk, and the current, DVD-format on the other. Jazz Semiconductor Files For IPO
Newport Beach-based Jazz Semiconductor has filed for an IPO, saying Monday that it is looking to raise up to $105M on the NASDAQ. The offering is being underwritten by Cowen & Company, Needham & Company, and Wachovia Securities. In its filing, Jazz reported a loss of $12.4M on total revenues of $199M in 2005. TCVN Targets Unaffiliated Angels
The Tech Coast Venture Network is the latest group looking to help entrepreneurs connect with angels, saying today that it has created a new, unaffiliated angel program. The group said that it is looking for entrepreneurs and business owners at early-stage companies who are looking to pitch their firms to a consortium of unaffiliated angels. HELIO Adds 3G Mobile Game Service
Los Angeles-based MVNO Helio is expanding its wireless services, saying today that it is adding a mobile game service for its users. The youth-oriented wireless provider said that it is developing a mobile portal centered around 3G mobile games, designed to let Helio customers access multiplayer games. Leap Wireless Cuts Positions In San Diego
San Diego-based Leap Wireless, a provider of wireless communications services, said today that it is realigning its operations. It said it is centralizing its administrative field operations in Denver, Colorado. The move affects sales, marketing, and product development, and affects 35 San Diego-based employees.
