Buy.com Ties Into Google Checkout
Aliso Viejo-based online retailer Buy.com has tied into Google's new Google Checkout program, the company said this morning. The retailer is one of the first stores to add support for Google's new online payment service. Buy.com said that it has added the support as another checkout option for its customers. Daylight Solutions Raises $7.5M
Poway-based Daylight Solutions, a company that is manufacturing miniaturized, molecular detection and imaging devices, has raised a $7.5M round of Series A funding. Funding came from HamiltonTech Capital Partners, Masters Capital Nanotechnology, and strategic partner Magnecomp International Limited. The company will use the funding to execute on its manufacturing and business development plans. The company's technology is based on mid-infrared lasers.

Dot Hill, Crossroads Settle Patent Dispute
Carlsbad-based storage systems provider Dot Hill Systems said today that it has reached a settlement with Crossroads Systems over a patent action brought against it by Crossroads. The firm will pay $3.35M for alleged past damages, and Crossroads will dismiss all patent claims against Dot Hill. Dot Hill also said that a third party will pay $7.15M to Crossroads in the patent case. Autobytel Taps AOL For Two Executives
Irvine-based Autobytel, a provider of online automotive marketing and auto-buying services, has named two executives from AOL to head up its web operations. The firm said this week that it has added Jon Rosen, fomer head of strategy and business development for AOL's Search Group, as Senior VP of its Web Business Operations. Qualcomm Adds Java Multitasking
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced today that its Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chipsets now support Java multitasking. The new capability allows multiple Java virtual machines to run simultaneously on MSM-based mobile phones, and is expected to help customers run multiple programs on their ones at once. DivX Certifies Casio Still Camera
San Diego-based DivX has added yet another consumer device to its list of licensees, saying this week that it has certified a new Casio digital still camera as DivX compatible. Casio's new Casio EX-S600D is the first digital still camera that uses the company's video compression codec. Casio's new hardware allows users to capture videos in DivX format. MRV Ships Out of Band Management Devices
