Make It Work In Territory Expansion
Santa Barbara-based Make It Work, which provides at-home technology support services, said Thursday that the firm has expanded its services into the Palm Springs area. The expansion comes as part of a partnership with Verizon, where Make It Work provides additional support services for Verizon customers. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed. Teledyne Buys TSS International
Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies said Thursday afternoon that it has acquired S G Brown Limited and its wholly owned subsidiary, TSS(International) Limited. The deal was worth approximately $57.7M. TSS International, which is based in Watford, United Kingdom, designs and manufactures inertial sensing and other systems for the offshore energy, oceanographic, and military market. Axiom Microdevices Releases Shipment Numbers
Irvine-based Axiom Microdevice announced Thursday that the firm has shipped more than 10 million units of its quad-band GPRS CMOS power amplifier to handset manufacturers in 2007. The chips are a critical part used in cellular phones. Axiom did not disclose what the financial impact of the shipments were. Gumiyo Inks Deals With JobCentral, Carfax
Woodland Hills-based Gumiyo, a startup which delivers classifieds to mobile phones, said this week that it has inked two separate partnerships. Gumiyo said Thursday that it has partnered with the DirectEmployers Association to provide job listings through Gumiyo's platform, and earlier this week it said it has started providing vehicle history reports from Carfax through its platform. Gizmo5 Links Into MySpace IM
San Diego-based, voice-over-IP software firm Gizmo5 said Thursday that the firm has linked its software to the MySpace instant messaging network. According to the firm, the integration means that users of MySpace can use the firm's software to see who is online on MySpace, receive alerts, and send/receive messages. Linspire Rolls Custom Linux Initiative
San Diego-based Linspire said today the firm has rolled out a new service which will offer custom, Linux desktop operating systems to its partners. Linspire, which develops several versions of desktop Linux operating systems, said the new service is targeted at cutting the expense of building their own Linux desktop operating systems. CSC Moves To Virginia
Computer Sciences Corporation, the giant El Segundo-based defense contractor, said Wednesday that the firm is relocating its corporate headquarters from El Segundo. CSC has been headquartered in Los Angeles since 1959, where it was founded. According to CSC, the company will relocate its headquarters to Falls Church, Virginia. Boingo Wireless Adds Zinser As CFO
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, which operates a network of Wi-Fi access points, said Wednesday that it has hired on Edward Zinser as the firm's new Chief Financial Officer. Zinser joins the firm from THQ, where he was EVP and CFO. Zinser has also served at Vivendi Universal, USA Networks, and the Walt Disney Company, among other companies. Low.com Launches New Lead Program
Los Angeles-based Low.com, the mortgage lead business of Oversee.net, said Wednesday that it has launched a new mortgage lead program for mortgage lenders. According to Low.com, the new program, called the Warm Transfers program, provides immediate contact with consumers via phone. Media Services Acquires Software Title
Los Angeles-based Media Services, a provider of accounting and payroll software for the entertainment industry, said Wednesday that it has acquired CompanyMOVE ShowPlanner. CompanyMOVE ShowPlanner is software used for scheduling film, TV, and commercial productions. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to Media Services, it will relaunch the software as Showbiz Scheduling.
