Sonos Updates iPhone App
Santa Barbara-based Sonos, which manufactures easy-to-use, multi-room music systems, said Tuesday that the firm has released an updated version of the firm's free software for the iPhone. The software allows users of Apple's iPhone 3G, iPhone, and iPod touch to control the firm's music systems. Sonos said the update includes multiple language support, ability to create wake up alarms using the iPhone, support for Microsoft WMA files, and more.

Cornerstone OnDemand Gets Big Win With Kelly Services
Santa Monica-based Cornerstone OnDemand revealed Tuesday that the firm has scored what it claims is the "largest global implementation" of software-as-a-service, with human resources firm Kelly Services. According to Cornerstone OnDemand, Kelly Services will use the firm's talent management software for nearly 659,000 employees worldwide. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Tone Software Buys Voice Analytics Product
Anaheim-based Tone Software, a developer of network monitoring and management tools for the telecom industry, said today that it has acquired a product and all of the underlying technology for a voice analytics platform from Communicado. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. According to Tone Software, it acquired Communicado's Streamline IP Voice Analytics Management Platform, including "key" product development and service delivery staff. Peregrine Semiconductor Hires CFO
San Diego-based Peregrine Semiconductor announced this morning that it has hired a new CFO, Jay Biskupski. Biskupski joins the firm from Xantrex Technology, and has also served at PMC-Sierra, Schlumberger Ltd., Nortel Networks, and Touch Ross & Co. Biskupski replaces Philip Chapman, who the firm says will oversee the firm's intellectual property licensing strategy. Peregrine Semiconductor is a developer of mixed signal and RF CMOS semiconductors.

Marshal8e6 Acquires Avinti
Orange-based Marshal8e6 announced Tuesday that it has acquired Avinti, a developer of security software. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. According to Marshal8e6, Avinti's team will be merged into the firm. Avinti is a developer of malware detection technolgoy. Marshal8e6 is a developer of security products for both the Web and email.

Geosemble Technologies Nabs Investment From In-Q-Tel
El Segundo-based Geosemble Technologies, a developer of geospatial data integration and mapping software, said today that it has received a strategic investment from In-Q-Tel, the venture capital arm of the CIA. Big Stage Entertainment Raises $2.7M
Los Angeles-based Big Stage Entertainment is announcing this morning that it has raised an additional $2.7M in a Series B funding for the firm. According to the company, the funding came from Mission Ventures, Selby Ventures, and the Tech Coast Angels. The company said the new funding will go to accelerate research and development, along with sales and marketing. Obagi Medical Bails On Pharmacy Sales
Long Beach-based Obagi Medical Products, which develops aesthetic and therapeutic skin care products, said Monday afternoon that the firm will stop selling its SoluCLENZ Rx Gel in pharmacies. The firm said that the company will instead focus on physician dispensing of its products. The firm blamed the economy, saying that "ongoing investment" in distributing the product through the pharmacy channel was "simply becoming cost-prohibitive in this current economic climate."
