Google Invests $200M In EDF Developed Wind Project
San Diego-based renewable energy developer EDF Renewable Energy gained a big new partner Wednesday: Google, after Google said it invested $200M in equity in a wind farm in West Texas. Google said it made the investment in the Spinning Spur Wind Project, in Oldham County, Texas, which was built by EDF Renewable Energy. Google said that Spnning Spur joins 10 other renewable energy investments it has made since 2010. The wind project has a capacity of 161 megawatts, or enough to power more than 60, (More info...)

CHNL Ties Into Groupon, LivingSocial
Santa Monica-based CHNL, a startup which is developing a social content browser for smartphones, tablets, and PCs, said today at CES that it has launched a new daily deals feature into its product. The company said it has added daily deal tracking from both Groupon and LivingSocial into its service, letting users browse and see deals into their social feeds from CHNL. Green Dot Plans Mobile Banking Product
Monrovia, California-based Green Dot, the provider of prepaid cards, is getting set to launch a new, mobile bank account product, the firm said Wednesday afternoon. The firm said it will be launching the product on Tuesday, January 15th. The company disclosed the new product launch through an invite for media, analysts and investors to a live conference call. The firm has not yet announced any details of the new product. Green Dot is headed by Steve Streit.

Frequency Signs Deal With Chinese TV Manufacturer
Frequency, the developer of mobile, web, smart TV, and other apps which let users find and view online video content, has inked a deal with a Chinese TV manufacturer, the company announced today at CES. Frequency--which is led by Blair Harrison--said it has partnered with TCL, the 4th largest LCD TV producer worldwide, and China's top television manufacturer, to pre-install its app on all future TCL TV models. Triton Digital Ties With eXelate On Audio Ad Targeting
Triton Digital, the provider of digital advertising services to the online and traditional radio market, said today that it has partnered with eXelate, a provider of data and analytics engines for digital advertisers. Activision Sets New Downloadable Content For Call Of Duty: Black Ops II
Santa Monica-based game developer Activision Publishing said today that it has set the launch date for the first, downloadable content pack for its popular Call of Duty: Black Ops II title. ZPower Gets ISO Certification
Advanced battery technology developer ZPower announced a new ISO 9001:2008 certification for its rechargeable silver-zinc batteries, the company said today, another step in its efforts to bring its technology to market. ServiceNow Tops Job Creation List
San Diego-based enterprise software developer ServiceNow has been ranked the top job creator in a listing from Inc. Magazine, the company reported today. ServiceNow, which develops enterprise IT automation software, said that it was the number one company in the software industry in the listing of Top 100 job creators in the list, due to job growth of 880 percent between 2008 to 2011. BuzzFeed Ramps Entertainment Coverage In LA
The intersection of Hollywood and online publishing looks to be helping grow jobs in Los Angeles in the online content area. The latest move in that area comes from online viral content publisher BuzzFeed, which is apparently ramping its operations in Los Angeles, as part of effort by the site to expand into entertainment coverage.
