Hulu To Tap Forssell As Acting CEO
Los Angeles-based Hulu reported Thursday afternoon that it will appoint Andy Forssell as acting CEO of the company, when current CEO Jason Kilar leaves at the end of the month. According to Kilar, Forssell helped grow the company from 2 content partners and no revenue to over 450 content partners and approximately $700 million revenue in 2012. Kilar also said that Disney and News Corporation are still working on "forward-looking plans" with the site.

Cooking.com Sold To Target Corp.
Marina Del Rey-based Cooking.com, the online retailer of cookware, kitchen products, and more, has been acquired by Target, Target announced Thursday. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Cooking.com has been looking for a buyer since October of last year. In addition to its own website, Cooking.com operated online stores for the Food Network, Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, Pillsbury, and others.

Picfari Takes On Travel Photo Opps
Picfari, another, new mobile travel photo application debuted today, saying that it is looking to help travelers find the best places to take photos at popular travel destinations. According to the Newport Beach startup, founded by couple Scott and Jackie Herr, the new, free mobile app helps photographers of all abilities take well-composed, memorable snapshots. The service looks to be similar to venture backed Crash, another mobile app which helps travelers to find travel photo locations. (More info...)

Domain Associates In Chinese Healthcare Venture
San Diego-based Domain Associates is thinking outside the box. The venture capital box, that is. The venture capital investor said Wednesday that it has linked with Chinese advisory firm Elite Consulting, to bring advanced healthcare products and technologies to China. Qualcomm Names Venture Investment Prize Winner
San Diego-based Qualcomm has named the winner of its annual, Qualcomm Ventures QPrize Venture Investment Competition, the company said this morning. Qualcomm said it has awarded $150,000 in convertible note funding to iOnRoad, and Israeli company which is developing apps to help drivers detect vehicles on the road and alerting them to danger. iOnRoad had previously won $100,000 from Qualcomm for winning the Israeli region competition of Qualcomm's QPrize competition. Transphorm Releases Silicon Power Devices
Heavily backed power semiconductor developer Transphorm--which has raised north of $100M from such investors as Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Foundation Capital, Google Ventures, and others--said this morning that it has released a new, GaN-based power electronics product. WhooHooLive Takes On Rare Recordings, Videos
WhooHooLive.com, a new Los Angeles-based music streaming and download service, said Wednesday that it has debuted a new service focused on rare, live recordings and videos. The site said it will offer up audio and video concerts and music of such artists as Emerson Lake & Palmer; Todd Rundgren; Iggy Pop and The Nice. Westlake Village-based ValueClick announced this morning that it has named Scott G. Eagle as its new Chief Marketing Officer.
