Document Sciences Acquisition Completes
Data storage giant EMC Corporation said Thursday afternoon that it has completed its acquisition of Carlsbad-based Document Sciences Corporation. The deal, which was originally announced in December, was worth $85.8M in cash. EMC said the acquisition will complement the firm in the area of enterprise content management. MySpace Boosts Internet Safety Efforts With Ad Campaign
Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace said Thursday afternoon that it has launched a new public service announcement campaign focused on Internet safety. According to the social networking site's security head, Hemanshu Nigam, the firm is stepping up its safety education efforts to promote online safety awareness among parents, educators and teens. Eyespot Targets Video Publishers
San Diego-based Eyespot said Thursday that it has rolled out a new offering targeted at online video publishers. Eyespot, which develops online video editing and remixing software, said that it will make its technology available to any publisher interested in its services. ViewSonic Cancels IPO Plans
Walnut-based computer monitor manufacturer ViewSonic said Wednesday in a filing with the SEC that it plans to withdraw the firm's IPO. ViewSonic, in a letter to the SEC, said that it withdrew the IPO because terms obtainable in the public marketplace are not sufficiently attractive to the company. Viewsonic had filed to raise up to $143.75M on the Nasdaq as VIEW. The firm's IPO was being underwritten by JPMorgan, Banc of America Securities, Thomas Weisel Partners, and Needham & Company.

Novelics In Technology Deal With Synopsys
Aliso Viejo-based Novelics, which develops intellectual property for the semiconductor industry, and semiconductor design firm Synopsys said Wednesday that Synopsys will offer Novelics embedded memory IP as part of its products. Synopsys will include Novelics SRAM-1T embedded memory IP as part of a technology licensing and development relationship. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ShredOrDie Launches Online Sports Video Site With Tony Hawk
Or Die Networks, the firm behind Will Ferrell's FunnyOrDie.com comedy video web site, said Wednesday that it has launched a new online sports video site, ShredOrDie.com. WebMessenger Hires New Execs
Los Angeles-based WebMessenger said this morning that it has bolstered its executive team. The firm said that it has promoted Joe Naylor to President, added Dan Coole as VP of Sales and Marketing, and appointed Amir Hudda to its board of directors. Naylor was previously the firm's Chief Marketing Officer. Coole joins the firm from OZ Communications, and has also served at Ericsson and Mitubishi Electronics. Hudda was CEO of Apptix.
